Flipping Beanie Babies
A high school hustle of mine: flipping Beanie Babies on eBay.
They were old toys and most were worthless, so I could sometimes buy boxes of them at garage sales for a few dollars.
After a lot of research on beanie babies, I’d dig through these boxes looking for gems — usually, valuable beanie babies had certain defects or manufacturing errors that made them rare.
For example, this green one I flipped for $180 had a typo on the tag. Only a small number were made before the typo was fixed.
I also found and sold a few Princess Diana babies for $20-$80. These were considered pretty special, and certain rare types sold for thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars!
I didn’t make much from this hustle, but at least now I know a ton of random quirks about these old toys that nobody really remembers. I also sill have boxes of unsold beanie babies collecting dust in my room 😅
